Slowpitch Challenge..

What a great day we had on the 15th February, 2015! The weather, for once at Downey Park, was perfect and we had a record number of teams competing in the Play for a Cure Slowpitch Challenge, helping us raise just under $3600!

Many a superstar of the past, lined up for their respective teams and even though the competitive nature did kick in, it was played in the right spirit with everybody playing for somebody they love who has been impacted by cancer and doing their bit to raise funds for cancer research through Play for a Cure Foundation.

Thanks to those who helped me out, especially Mr Wayne Blackman on the BBQ – you cook a mean hamburger Wayne!

Congratulations to Got the Runs. With the absence of Jannita’s Girls this year (insert sad face, but they will be back!), GTR took advantage and took home the gold medal over debutant Team Aurizon!

Home run of the day was to Miho – Miho 1, Matt 0!

Can’t wait for next year, where we hope to be bigger and better! Oh and how could I forget! The money we raised at this tournament has taken us to over $82000 raised since we started our charity 5 years ago this December – we are aiming for $100K by end of the year! Can we do it…….
